OHSU Co-sponsors Community Resource Area, Interactive Displays at Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

OHSU and the Portland-Guadalajara Sister City Association will co-sponsor a Community Resource Area at the annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta.

WHEN:

    11 a.m. - 6 p.m., Thursday, May 3, through Sunday, May 6    

    Tom McCall Waterfront Park


DETAILS:

OHSU's Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs is partnering with the Portland-Guadalajara Sister City Association to sponsor a Community Resource Area at this year's Cinco de Mayo Fiesta in Waterfront Park -- an event attended by more than 400,000 people each year.

The Community Resource Area will include interactive, educational displays and health awareness booths on numerous general health topics. Staff and students from OHSU's School of Dentistry, Oregon Cancer Institute, Center on Occupational and Environmental Toxicology, and Human Resources Department, along with representatives from the Oregon Donor Program and the Parkinson's Disease Center at OHSU, will be on hand to answer questions and provide demonstrations. Free blood pressure checks will be provided all day Sunday.

Other groups participating in the resource area include the State of Oregon Services to Children and Families, the Fair Housing Council of Oregon, Northwest Medical Teams, Multnomah County Health Department Breast and Cervical Cancer Program, Portland Development Commission Neighborhood Housing Program, Hacienda Community Development Corporation, Hispanics in Unity for Oregon, among others.
