OHSU Center for Women's Health Conference Tells Participants, "It's Your Time Now!"

The 2002 OHSU Center for Women's Health Conference is for women who care about improving their health, their lifestyle and their appearance. The conference, "Good Health! It's YOUR Time Now" is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Oregon Convention Center. Fred Meyer is the Marquee Sponsor. Oregon's own, Katie Harman, Miss America 2002, will open the conference with comments about the future of women's health.

The keynote speaker is Dean Ornish, M.D., founder and president of the Preventive Medicine Research Institute, and author of "The Power of Lifestyle Changes." He will speak about how comprehensive lifestyle changes may begin to reverse even severe coronary heart disease without drugs or surgery. Another highlight of the conference is Laure Redmond, prominent fitness therapist and author of the newly released "Feel Good Naked." Sheila K. Hamilton, five-time Emmy-award-winning journalist is mistress of ceremonies for the event.

Joanna Cain, M.D., director of OHSU Center for Women's Health, will speak on "A New Vision for Women's Health" and "Can We Prevent Women's Cancers?" OHSU's Anne Nedrow, M.D., director of women's primary care and integrative medicine, OHSU Center for Women's Health, will be joined by Chris Meletis, N.D., of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine, and Hong Jin, M.D. (P.R.C.), L.Ac., of the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, to present three perspectives on "Key Issues in Women's Health." Afternoon breakout sessions will address such issue as dealing with stress, improving sexual quality of life, use of vitamins and herbs, Chinese exercises for vitality, beating seasonal affective disorder, affordable skin care, wellness strategies that work, heart health, hypnosis to lose weight, body contouring, and the latest findings on hormone replacement therapy.
