The Area Health Education Center of Southwest Oregon Cultural Conference

   Portland, Ore.

The Area Health Education Center (AHEC) of Southwest Oregon is pleased to offer "The Changing Face of Rural Health Care" a cultural conference for regional medical and social service providers. The conference will be held in Roseburg on Friday, October 18, 2002, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Umpqua Community College, Indian Room. Registration Fee: $35.00 or $10.00 for students (includes lunch). The conference is co-sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), and Umpqua Community College (UCC). The featured speaker is nationally renowned Ira SenGupta, MA, Cross Cultural Health Care Program Manager, Seattle, Washington. Ira has developed and conducted over 300 hours of trainings in cross-cultural issues for health care providers in the past year alone. In addition to Ira, four workshops will be offered-"Bridging the Gap", "Health Literacy", "Working Effectively with Interpreters", "Increasing Efficacy with Senior Patients / Clients".
