Hunsinger Named OHSU Foundation Planned Giving Officer

   Portland, Ore.

The Oregon Health & Science University Foundation has named Drew C. Hunsinger, Jr. associate director of planned giving. Hunsinger joins a staff of three planned giving officers who raise funds for OHSU and its affiliated pediatric hospital, Doernbecher Children's Hospital.

Hunsinger received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina and is a graduate of the Willamette University College of Law. Before joining the OHSU Foundation, he was an attorney with Eugene-based Hershner, Hunter, Andrews, Neil & Smith, L.L.P., and with David W. Owens P.C. & Associates, and Banks Law Office, P.C. -- both based in Portland. Hunsinger's practice emphasis included estate planning and securities law.

Hunsinger has also served nonprofit organizations, including the Chapel Hill, N.C.-based advocacy group for disabled persons The Arc of Orange County, and the Durham County Community Living Program.

Hunsinger is a member of the Oregon State Bar, and of professional associations including the international legal fraternity Phi Delta Phi and The Order of the Barristers.

The OHSU Foundation's mission is to secure private philanthropic support for Oregon Health & Science University and to invest and manage gifts responsibly in accordance with donors' wishes. Its activities are conducted in conjunction with the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation. For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2002, total contributions to the OHSU Foundation topped $48 million, and total contributions to the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation were in excess of $8 million. During the course of the fiscal year, the Department of Planned Giving facilitated planned gifts totaling more than $26 million.

Through its planned giving program, the OHSU Foundation offers donor-advised funds, charitable trusts, gift annuities, life estate agreements and other life-income gift plans.
