Former general counsel Steve Stadum appointed CAO, new general counsel named
Oregon Health & Science University has appointed Steve Stadum to be OHSU's chief administrative officer.
Stadum will oversee all central administrative functions other than finance, and he will work with the rest of OHSU's executive leadership team and the OHSU Board of Directors on strategic and policy matters. His responsibilities will include human resources, facilities, information technology, legal affairs, risk management, corporate integrity, communications and affirmative action/equal opportunity. He will also play a key role in working with the business community.
"Steve has done an extraordinary job as OHSU's general counsel during the past five years, providing dynamic leadership as we've initiated important expansion projects while simultaneously dealing with budget challenges," said Peter Kohler, M.D., OHSU's president. "This new position consolidates a number of existing administrative responsibilities, and I'm confident Steve will bring his usual energy, discernment and management skills to his new role."
Stadum was named OHSU's general counsel and the corporate secretary of OHSU's board of directors in 1999. He has also played an important role in planning and executing OHSU's expansion to the South Waterfront Central District just south of downtown Portland, where construction recently began on a 16-story 400,000-square-foot center for advanced health and medicine.
Amy Wayson has been named to replace Stadum as OHSU's general counsel. A member of OHSU's Legal Department since 2001, she was previously in private law practice.
"With nearly 20 years of legal experience, Amy Wayson brings a breadth and depth of legal experience that is well suited to her new role in the Legal Department," Stadum said.
A former managing partner with Ater Wynne LLP, Stadum is a 1981 graduate of Northwestern School of Law of Lewis and Clark College.
Wayson is also a former partner with Ater Wynne and prior to joining OHSU served as legal counsel to a variety of businesses and health care providers in Oregon and Washington. She is a 1979 graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law.
