Kirby Dyess Named to OHSU Board of Directors

   Portland, Ore.

Oregon Health & Science University has announced the appointment of investor and Oregon State Board of Higher Education member Kirby Dyess to the OHSU Board of Directors.

A principal in Austin Capital Management, LLC in Beaverton, Ore., Dyess specializes in early stage investments in Pacific Northwest companies. She recently retired from Intel, where she was corporate vice president and director of operations for Intel Capital, Intel's strategic investment group. In addition to managing the organization's operations, her group managed more than 50 Intel mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to joining Intel, Dyess spent more than 10 years at ICN Medical Laboratories Inc. in Portland, where she started and operated the Diagnostic Products Division based on her research in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism.

Dyess holds a degree in physics from the University of Idaho and did postgraduate work in biochemistry and management. She replaces Thomas Imeson, past president of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education, on the OHSU board.

The OHSU Board of Directors has 10 members. Mandated positions on the board include the president of OHSU, a member of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education and an OHSU student.
