Psychiatry Department Faculty Receive National Honors

   Portland, Ore.

Department of Psychiatry faculty in the Oregon Health & Science University School of Medicine have received the following national appointments and honors:

* Scott Armstrong, M.D., clinical associate professor of psychiatry, OHSU School of Medicine, was elected a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. Armstrong also was named medical director of the Tuality Center for Geriatric Psychiatry.

* John Beahrs, M.D., professor of psychiatry, OHSU School of Medicine, was elected a lifetime distinguished fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.

* Daniel Casey, M.D., professor of psychiatry, OHSU School of Medicine, was appointed co-director of the CME Institute of the Physicians Postgraduate Press, and co-chairman of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology Journal Review Task Force. He also was appointed to the Primedia Healthcare CME Advisory Board.

* David Cutler, M.D., and David Pollack, M.D., professors of psychiatry, OHSU School of Medicine, received the national Alliance for the Mentally Ill Exemplary Psychiatrist Award. The APA also elected Cutler a lifetime distinguished fellow.

* J. David Kinzie, M.D., F.A.C., was elected a fellow of the American College of Psychiatrists.

* Nancy Winters, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry (child and adolescent psychiatry), OHSU School of Medicine, was elected a fellow to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
