Doernbecher Cancer Survivors to Unveil Nike Shoes They Designed

WHAT:
Five Doernbecher Children's Hospital cancer survivors designed their own Nike shoes to be sold nationwide to raise money for Portland's world-class academic pediatric health center. The shoes will be unveiled at a special "Doernbecher Freestyle" fund-raising event at the Wieden + Kennedy building. Each artist will share his/her personal story of triumph over cancer and the motivation for his/her shoe design.
Nike will sell a limited run of the shoes later this year. Proceeds from each pair sold will help patients at Doernbecher.
WHO:
Five Doernbecher cancer patients, aged 11 to 17; H. Stacy Nicholson, M.D., M.P.H., professor and head, OHSU Doernbecher Pediatric Hematology/Oncology; Marcus Tayui, Nike shoe designer who collaborated with the children; Michael Doherty, Nike creative director and board member of Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation.
