Margaret Shaw Joins OHSU Sellwood-Moreland Health Center

   Portland, Ore.

 

Margaret Shaw, Ph.D., C.N.M., has joined Oregon Health & Science University's School of Nursing as an assistant professor of nurse-midwifery. Shaw also will work with patients in the OHSU Health Center Sellwood-Moreland, specializing in breast exams, family planning, annual exams, gynecological problems, sexually transmitted disease testing and prenatal care for mothers delivering at OHSU. Shaw is one of three certified nurse-midwives practicing based at the Sellwood-Moreland health center.

Shaw has an extensive background in women's health care. She has worked in both private and public practice; most recently she worked in private practice helping to deliver babies and coordinating the prenatal program at the McMinnville office of the Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center. During her more than 16 years working in Yamhill County, Shaw coordinated a countywide breast-feeding task force and a countywide access to prenatal care task force. She received her nurse-midwifery degree from the University of Southern California and her doctoral degree from OHSU School of Nursing. Shaw speaks fluent Spanish.
