OHSU Integrative Medicine Distinguished Lectureship Presents National Expert on Complementary and Alternative Medicine

 

David Eisenberg, M.D., of Harvard University will present "Integrative Medicine: A Disruptive Innovation" at the third annual OHSU Integrative Medicine Distinguished Lectureship on Thursday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the OHSU Auditorium, Marquam Hill Campus. A complimentary buffet dinner will be provided to all attendees. Admission is free.

Eisenberg is a renowned leader in complementary and integrative medicine, serving as a spokesman and adviser helping to set health care policies in the United States. He is the director of the Osher Institute and the Division for Research and Education in Complementary and Integrative Medical Therapies at Harvard Medical School. He is also the Bernard Osher Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Eisenberg has served as an advisor to the National Institutes of Health, the Food and Drug Administration and the Federation of State Medical Boards with regard to complementary, alternative and integrative medicine research, education and policy. He most recently served on the Institute of Medicine Committee, to explore the scientific and policy implications on the use of complementary and alternative medicine by the American public. Eisenberg has authored numerous scientific articles involving complementary and integrative medical therapies and currently oversees Harvard Medical School's research program in this area.

Eisenberg will be speaking about the effects that integrative medicine will have on health care delivery within the United States. He will also speak about his experience as a member of the Institute of Medicine Committee exploring how the United States uses complementary and alternative therapies.
