OHSU Will Present Degrees To 887 Students June 1

   Portland, Ore.

Oregon Health & Science University's 2005 Commencement ceremony is planned for Wednesday, June 1, at 5 p.m. in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1000 S.W. Broadway Ave., Portland. There will be 887 students receiving degrees in medicine, nursing, science and engineering, and several other areas of study.

The keynote speaker is Mark Ganz, 43, president and chief executive officer for The Regence Group, which includes affiliated health plans in Oregon, Washington, Utah and Idaho. Ganz is the former president of Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, the state's largest health care plan, covering nearly 1 in 3 Oregonians. He has participated in the Northwest's health care community most of his professional life. The son of a physician, he spent many afternoons as a child in his father's family practice learning the importance of service, community and family. These values are the foundation of his efforts to help transform our nation's health care system.
