Ryan Olsen Development's Old Portland-inspired house could generate $100,000 for the children's hospital at this year's event, which runs June 11-July 3 at Beaverton's Holland Park housing development
Doernbecher Children's Hospital stands to gain a donation of more than $100,000 from the sale of a charity house at the 2005 RE/MAX Street of New Beginnings home tour, June 11-July 3 in Beaverton's Holland Park development.
Area builder Ryan Olsen Development designed and constructed the 2,600-square-foot reproduction of a classic Old Portland residence, and will donate proceeds from its sale to the children's hospital. Olsen's contribution - the first-ever Street of New Beginnings benefit for Doernbecher - expands the hospital's ongoing Homebuilders for Miracles partnership with the Homebuilders Association of Metropolitan Portland.
The donated house - Olsen's "Lilyhurst" model - offers vintage design elements such as a covered front porch, wood shakes, hard-plank siding, gables and a Craftsman-style front door. Despite its old-time look, the three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom home is well equipped with the amenities of today - a wine cellar, gourmet kitchen, media room, walk-in shower - and a thoroughly modern $419,000 price tag.
"The buyer of this home will get the best real estate deal in town," said Ryan Olsen. "It's a charming house with superb features in a very desirable location. Best of all, it comes with the satisfaction of helping Doernbecher kids. We're proud to be part of this great program."
"Thanks to the generosity of Ryan Olsen, his subcontractors and suppliers, this year's Street of New Beginnings will truly mark a new beginning for many Doernbecher kids and their families," said Sue Nicol, executive director of the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation. "We're very grateful for this fabulous gesture."
