OHSU's New Chief Financial Officer Announced

   Portland, Ore.

Bradley King was interim CFO for OHSU Hospital and Clinics in '04

Oregon Health & Science University has a new vice president and chief financial officer: Bradley N. King, a health care finance expert who served as interim CFO for OHSU Hospitals and Clinics last year.

King, who has more than 29 years of experience in financial management of health care institutions with a focus on strategic and business planning, will report to OHSU President Peter Kohler, M.D., who announced King's appointment to the brand-new position.

"This new leadership position represents an effort to centrally respond to the fiscal needs of both the OHSU hospital and clinics and our academic programs," Kohler said. "Its very creation is a good financial move, and Mr. King's credentials make him well suited for the job."

As CFO, King will oversee all financial functions for OHSU, including academic and research programs, as well as its hospitals and clinics. In addition to managing day-to-day financial operations, King will work with the university's senior management team to develop and implement the institutions long-term financial strategies. All senior finance leaders at OHSU will report directly to King, but they will continue to work on a daily basis as members of their existing operating units.

King began his career in a national public accounting firm's Portland office and spent almost nine months last year as interim CFO for OHSU Hospital and Clinics. He most recently served as a principal in the Charlotte, N.C., office of Larson, Allen, Weishair & Co., a national firm providing certified public accounting, consulting and advisory services to hospitals, academic medical centers, group practices, physicians, health maintenance organizations and other health care entities. King also has been the long-term chief financial officer at two other large medical centers, as well as interim CFO at five others, including OHSU Hospital and Clinics.

King received his bachelor's degree in biology/pre-medicine, and master's degrees in business administration and public administration, from Willamette University in Salem.
