Women can hear about how to "Revitalize Their Sexuality for Mental and Physical Health" by nationally known relationship expert, author, columnist and university professor Pepper Schwartz, Ph.D. They also can learn how eating chocolate is actually good for the brain and body.
These topics and other up-to-date health information will be presented at the 11th Annual Women's Health Conference scheduled for Saturday, April 22, from 7:30 a.m., when doors open, to 4:15 p.m., at the Oregon Convention Center.
Schwartz, the keynote speaker, is the author of several books including "Finding Your Perfect Match," and "Everything You Know About Love and Sex Is Wrong." She is a professor of sociology at the University of Washington, creator of the profiler for Perfectmatch.com, and contributor to Glamour and American Baby magazines. Schwartz has devoted her career to understanding love and relationships.
Eighteen expert speakers from OHSU and the community will present on such topics as: "The Benefits of Chocolate," "Cultivating Optimism and Resilience in Times of Change," "10 Habits That Mess Up a Woman's Diet," "The Health Disparity Gap: What Women of Color Can Do to Improve Their Health and Quality of Life," "Better Than Botox? Marketing vs. Science: Top 10 Skin Care Tips for Women," "What Women Need to Know About Heart Disease - It May Not Be What You Think," and "Options and Alternatives for the Peri- and Postmenopausal Years." There also will be sessions on creative cardio and stretching exercises to liven up the day.
"This year's conference is especially exciting. There's so much health information for women. It's what's new and useful in women's health. You can mix and match what issues make a difference in your life, whether it's how sensuality and chocolate can help your physical and emotional well-being or perhaps it's how you can help your community and thereby the quality of your life," said Wendy Mitchell, Center for Women's Health program manager.
The cost of the day-long event is $35 and includes a vegetarian lunch. For a complete listing of conference speakers, visit: www.ohsuwomenshealth.com. To register by phone, please call 503 494-0712, or register online at: www.ohsuwomenshealth.com.
