The OHSU Foundation, the private fund-raising affiliate of Oregon Health & Science University, has completed recruitments for two key senior management positions.

Constance French has joined the OHSU Foundation as the senior vice president of development, following a national search. French was previously director of the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. She brings to OHSU's development team a wealth of skills and experience honed during a 17-year career in institutional advancement. In her new role, she will assume responsibility for day-to-day oversight of all development programs, including major gifts, annual giving, foundation relations and gift planning. French's prior development experience includes management positions with an emphasis on major and annual giving at Smith College and Trinity College.

"Constance's proven track record as a results-driven leader at one of the nation's finest academic medical centers gives me great confidence in her ability to move our development program forward to secure the private support OHSU needs to advance the health and well-being of Oregonians," said OHSU Foundation President Stephen T. Sanders.

Sanders also announced the appointment of Nancy Benavente as the foundation's vice president for development services, overseeing a diverse set of critical operations such as research and database systems, gift processing, donor relations and communications. Benavente comes to the foundation from the University of California, Davis, where she was director of advancement services. She has previously held senior management positions in the development services area at the National Audubon Society and the University of California, Los Angeles.

"As the foundation works with OHSU to begin planning for the institution's exciting future, it is critical to have experienced professionals such as Constance and Nancy in our leadership positions," Sanders said. "They will both be valuable players in the important discussions ahead of us as we align our development effort with OHSU's bold institutional vision. We are delighted to welcome them both to the foundation's management team."

The OHSU Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that exists to secure private philanthropic support for Oregon Health & Science University. The foundation raises funds from individuals, companies, foundations and organizations, and invests and manages gifts in accordance with donors' wishes.
