Sept. 16: Last Chance for a Sunday Ride on the Tram

Don’t forget: Sunday, Sept. 16, is the last time this year that you’ll be able to use the Portland Aerial Tram on a Sunday.

Sunday service was inaugurated on May 20 to accommodate leisure-time users during the good weather months of spring and summer when the scenic vistas are most vividly on display.

Because of fewer daylight hours during the fall and winter months, essential maintenance work can only be done on Sundays during those months. During the long days of summer, maintenance can be done on Saturdays after operating hours or  mornings prior to the start of service.

The Tram Executive Management Committee will determine whether to resume Sunday service next spring after carefully evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of doing so.
