Kathleen Dean Named OHSU Vice President for Marketing and Communications

Kathleen Dean, M.S., has been named vice president for marketing and communications at Oregon Health & Science University. In this newly created position, Dean will provide leadership for all activities related to the University’s regional and national branding and strategic communications.

Prior to her appointment at OHSU, Dean was vice president for marketing communications for Geisinger Health System in Danville, Pa. In that position, she was responsible for strategic marketing, recruitment advertising, referral development and communications initiatives. Geisinger is a $1.7 billion health services delivery system with a 700-member multi-specialty group practice, three hospitals, two research centers and 40 medical practice sites.

“Kathy will serve a key role in implementing OHSU’s new strategic plan called Vision 2020,” said OHSU President Joe Robertson, M.D., M.B.A. “She will provide leadership in developing an integrated marketing and communications program that builds on OHSU’s unique position as Oregon’s only health and research university.”

Prior to moving to Pennsylvania in 1999, Dean was director of public affairs for Northern Arizona Healthcare. She also has public relations and marketing experience in retail, real estate and other service industries.
