The Oregon Office of Rural Health at Oregon Health & Science University is seeking nominations for the 2008 Oregon Rural Health Conference Awards. The awards honor outstanding people, programs and organizations that have improved the quality and availability of health care in rural communities.

"We all know at least one person or group that has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to health care in our community," said Linda Peppler, department administrator, OHSU Oregon Office of Rural Health, and coordinator of the annual conference. "Think about nominating someone whose actions have had a notable, positive impact on the health of the community, or a successful program that other communities might want to duplicate. How about a teacher or coach with a unique approach to educating students on health care risk prevention, or a health care provider, clinic or health department that has demonstrated a unique devotion to the populations they serve?"

The 25th Annual Rural Health Conference will be held Wednesday, Sept. 24 to Saturday, Sept. 27,  at the Riverhouse Hotel and Conference Center,
3075 N. Business 97, Bend, Ore.

Nomination forms will be accepted through July 1 and are available on the Oregon Office of Rural Health Web site at www.ohsu.edu/oregonruralhealth.
