Online Ordering Now Available for Doernbecher’s 2008 Holiday Cards for Kids

Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation and the Friends of Doernbecher have been offering the holiday cards for 17 years

The leaves are only just beginning to turn, but it’s not too soon to think about this year’s holiday greeting cards. As they have for the past 17 years, the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Friends of Doernbecher are offering the 2008 line of new cards designed by creatively inclined Doernbecher patients or their family members, with net proceeds benefiting the hospital.

Last year’s Holiday Cards for Kids program raised more than $84,000 for the region’s premier pediatric medical center

The cards will appear in stores in November, but shoppers can order online now at the Doernbecher Foundation Web site:

A Santa, snowman, holiday trees and an angel grace this year’s holiday card selection.

Eight new greeting card designs and one everyday note card are available at $12 per pack of 15 cards and 16 envelopes. The line-up also includes a $10 donation card. Imprinting services are available at extra cost.

The presenting sponsor of this year’s program is The Standard. Additional sponsors include Carpenter’s Local 247, Joe Salta in memory of Ruth Salta, and Weller Associates, Inc.

Numerous in-kind donors also helped make this year’s project a success.

Cards will be available in the Portland area in November at the following retailers: Annie’s Hallmark, Chocolates by Bernard Callebaut, Coco & Toulouse Go Shopping, Dragonfly Greetings & Gifts, Goodnight Room, Haggen Food & Pharmacy, Heart of the Mountain, Made in Oregon stores, New Seasons Markets, OHSU Bookstore, Our Children’s Store, Powell’s City of Books (Burnside), Sleighbells Gift Shop, Terra Casa, Tommy Bahama at Bridgeport Village and Zupan’s Markets.

Profits from this year’s cards will go to three important programs supported by Friends of Doernbecher: the Friends of Doernbecher Grant Program, the Family Resource Library in the lobby of OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, and the Child Life Program at Doernbecher.

Art entries are encouraged and accepted throughout the year. For more information about Cards for Kids, submitting artwork, or becoming involved with Friends of Doernbecher, call 503 220-8344 or 800 800-9583.
