Brain Chemistry for Lovers: OHSU Brain Awareness Season unlocks secrets of the heart, head

Grammy-nominated vocalist Valerie Day of NU SHOOZ Orchestra joins OHSU Neuroscientist Larry Sherman, the Portland Chamber Orchestra and other top artists for 10th anniversary show

Tickets are now on sale for a special multi-media Valentine’s Concert featuring Grammy-nominated vocalist Valerie Day, Oregon Health & Science University neuroscientist Larry Sherman, jazz pianist Darrell Grant and the Portland Chamber Orchestra. The Feb. 16 presentation of Brain Chemistry for Lovers also will feature the work of award-winning filmmaker Jim Blashfield and musical arranger/composer John Smith.

The concert will be held at the Newmark Theater in Portland. It marks the 10th anniversary of Oregon Brain Awareness, presented by OHSU’s Oregon Brain Institute. The theme for the 2009 season is “The Power and Potential of the Brain.” It also features presentations on neuroscience, art and the brain by leading experts from around the country, a brain fair at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, and other events.
