Ninth Annual Radiothon Raises More Than $428,000 for Doernbecher

Thanks to the generosity of our community, the ninth annual 99.5 FM "The Wolf's Hunt for a Cure" Radiothon raised more than $428,000 in pledges for the Doernbecher Children's Hospital Foundation. Broadcast live from the Doernbecher lobby on March 12 and 13, the radiothon featured The Wolf's on-air personalities making the case for Doernbecher while teams of volunteers stood by from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days to take listerners' pledges. On-air interviews with young patients and their families underscored Doernbecher's unique role as the region's most comprehensive source of care for hospitalized children.

This year's radiothon grand total was boosted by a special contribution of nearly $52,000 from Burger King Corporation's Have It Your Way Foundation. The gift represented 20 percent of the March 10 gross sales at all 71 Portland metro area Burger Kings in a fundraiser jointly promoted with The Wolf.

The radiothon was presented by Foresters, a membership-based life insurance organization; other sponsors included John L. Scott Foundation, Furniture Outlet and Rasmussen Mercedes Benz.
