Today, the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute will launch The Pink Phone Campaign, a unique breast cancer outreach project to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Two large free-standing pink phone booths – each 5 feet tall – will begin touring the Metro area to raise awareness of breast cancer and gather advice and stories of survivorship.
Survivors and co-survivors can find a Pink Phone in September and October. The pink phone invites you to share your advice and stories, or to listen to others give their advice about the disease that affects one in every eight women. Oregon has one of the highest incidences of breast cancer in the nation.
Stories can also be shared on the Pink Hot Line at (503) 494-PINK. The Pink Phone will begin tweeting the week of September 7th - follow the Pink Phone on Twitter @OHSUPinkPhone.
The phones will travel around the Metro area beginning Monday, Aug. 24, 2009 through Friday, Oct. 30, 2009. Once the tour is complete, the stories may be posted on the Knight Cancer Institute website or used for future breast health campaigns.
