Dr. Haendel Appointed Assistant Professor

Dr. Melissa Haendel has been appointed to the Library Faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor. Melissa received her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Wisconsin and has done research in molecular developmental neuroscience using zebrafish as a model system.  She joins us from the Zebrafish Information Network (ZFIN) where she has been building an anatomy ontology and developing strategies to make anatomy and phenotype ontologies interoperable across databases and species, primarily for the purpose of mining model organism data for phenotypes similar to human disease.  Melissa is currently working with the eagle-i curation team to build ontologies for research resource indexing and discovery. Please join us in congratulating Melissa on her appointment.
