Dr. Fennerty named President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy

M. Brian Fennerty, MD, Professor, Department of Medicine, has been named the President of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He will serve as president through May 2011.

“I look forward to serving as ASGE’s president and my goal for the year ahead is to center the ASGE as the leading organization when it comes to any issue regarding endoscopy and patient care, and to continue the Society’s focus on quality in endoscopy to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients,” said Dr. Fennerty.

As he fulfills his role, Dr. Fennerty will work on important issues facing ASGE and its members, such as who should perform endoscopy and what type of sedation endoscopists should be allowed to use during endoscopic procedures.

Since its founding in 1941, ASGE has been dedicated to advancing patient care and digestive health by promoting excellence in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
