Award-winning documentary to support OHSU’s Global Collaboration in rural Ethiopia

Education

The award-winning documentary film “A Walk to Beautiful,” highlighting the hope and courage of Ethiopian women devastated by childbirth injuries, will be shown as a fundraiser to support the OHSU Global Collaboration to Improve Women’s Health in Rural Ethiopia.

This fall, a group of physicians, nurses and midwives from OHSU supported by the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology will travel to Gimbie Adventist Hospital in Ethiopia to perform pelvic floor reconstructive surgeries, provide surgical training to local providers, and establish a training partnership with nursing and midwifery programs in family planning and safe motherhood. The team is planning two to three trips per year.

Ethiopia native and OHSU urogynecologist Rahel Nardos, M.D., joined a team that traveled to Gimbie last February. Her trip was featured on humanitarian photographer Joni Kabana’s blog.
