Historical Collections & Archives Exhibit: Editions Medicina Rara Art Prints

Now on display in the main lobby of the OHSU Library is the latest exhibit of materials from the Historical Collections & Archives. Editions Medicina Rara Art Prints. The exhibit features 3 of the folios held in our Manuscript Collection. The first on display is the "fantasmic" and startling pen and ink drawings of American artist, Leonard Baskin, "Ars Anatomica", 1972. The second rotation will highlight the garish and certainly vulgar caricatures of English artist, Thomas Rowlandson, "The Doctor Dissected" (1810-1813). The third and final display will stage the provocative and alluring paintings of India's ancient schools of art (16th-17th c.) "Healing and Health Care in India". Prints will change bi-weekly.The exhibit will run October – December 2010.

I hope that everyone will be able to come to the exhibit to see the full spectrum of prints, but for those who cannot, an online component will be available. Please visit our Exhibits web page to see the past and present exhibits from the OHSU Historical Collections & Archives. Questions and comments about the exhibit can be directed to Archivist Karen Peterson (peterska@ohsu.edu or 503-494-3239).
