Dr. Hersh named to Top 25 Clinical Informaticists

Dr. HershWilliam Hersh, MD, Professor and Chair, Department of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology, has been named one of the top 25 clinical informaticists of 2010 by Modern Healthcare magazine (MHM). He is the only full-time educator among the 25 awardees.

Dr. Hersh was acknowledged for directing one of the largest biomedical informatics education programs in the country. The article cited his work leading the 10x10 program in collaboration with the American Medical Informatics Association that aims to train 10,000 healthcare professionals in biomedical informatics by 2010.

"I am delighted that the award committee chose to recognize the value of informatics education as an important part of clinical informatics," said Dr. Hersh.

MHM said the Top 25 Clinical Informaticists roster highlights "the rising profile and influence of these healthcare professionals" in the country.

Dr. Hersh was nominated by Paul DeMuro, a student in the Graduate Certificate program.
