SoM Alumni Association rings in the holidays

SOM Holiday PartyHoliday music from fourth-year medical student and council member Jessica Carlson greeted over 200 alumni and guests at the 2010 Alumni Holiday Reception at the Waverley Country Club on Dec. 5.

“By any measure, the Association has had a very busy year,” said Robert J. Laird, MD ’68, opening the reception program. “We’ve had a series of six very successful reunions, honored three outstanding alumni at the Awards banquet in May, and sponsored the Student Research Forum in the Spring, the Welcome Barbeque in September and the Medical Specialty Speed Dating event just prior to Thanksgiving.”

Dean Mark Richardson added his holiday greetings to the guests before giving a brief update on activities at the School, including curriculum revisions and other plans to ensure that the School is meeting its goal of “teaching to the 21st century.” He also encouraged the guests to watch for exciting news from the Knight Cancer Institute.
