Dr. Spiro quoted in NPR on treating children with ear infections

An NPR article titled, Antibiotics Defeat Ear Infections in Young Kids, Studies Find, explains how new studies add substantial weight to the practice of giving antibiotics to young children suffering from ear infections.  David Spiro, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, was mentioned as an advocate of the wait-and-see approach to treating ear infections. However, because of the new study, Dr. Spiro suggested that the “pendulum will swing” toward immediate antibiotic treatment. The complete article is available at NPR online.
