A CNN article titled, Heavy teens at increased risk of heart disease years later, reports on a new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine. According to the journal, “Teenage boys who are even slightly overweight face an increased risk of heart disease later in life, even if they slim down as adults.”
In the article, Daniel Marks, MD, PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, said, “It's important to keep in mind that being overweight is not solely responsible for heart disease or diabetes. Exercise, and other lifestyle choices, have a much greater impact on risk than body size alone.”
