10 years ago, Brian Druker, MD, Professor and Director of the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute, changed the course of cancer research with the development of Gleevec. Smithsonian magazine chronicles that victory in its May issue.
In the article, Dr. Druker said, “I saw cancer as being a tractable problem. People were beginning to get some hints and some clues and it just seemed to me that in my lifetime it was likely to yield to science and discovery.”
