In order to help fill Oregon's nursing workforce shortage, the OHSU School of Nursing has opened campuses in Ashland, Klamath Falls, La Grande and, most recently, Monmouth. Student training also is available at OHSU's Marquam Hill Campus in Portland, and some courses are offered via a virtual online campus.

“OHSU's mission covers all 96,000 square miles of Oregon,” explained OHSU School of Nursing Dean Michael Bleich, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N. “Therefore, we aim to provide educational opportunities in as many areas of the state as possible. This allows nurses in training to remain close to their families throughout the education process. In addition, when nurses are trained locally, they often choose to practice nearby. Training sites across Oregon helps provide nurses across Oregon.”

In addition to offering nurse education throughout the state, the OHSU School of Nursing plays an active role in the Oregon Consortium for Nursing Education. The consortium is a partnership of Oregon nursing programs dedicated to educating future nurses. Faculty from eight community colleges and the OHSU School of Nursing have created a shared curriculum taught on all consortium campuses. Through OCNE, students can complete coursework for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing from OHSU without leaving their home community.
