Dr. Deiorio is ACEP National Faculty Teaching Award recipient

Dr. DeiorioNicole Deiorio, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, has been named one of the 2011 American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) National Faculty Teaching Award recipients.

"I feel very honored to be selected for this award,” said Dr. Deiorio. “OHSU has such a strong tradition of teaching and I am thankful for all the mentorship, support, and collaboration that have been given to me as I have developed my career as an educator."

Dr. Deiorio is the director of Medical Student Education for the Department of Emergency Medicine, in charge of electives and advising students interested in EM. She is a course co-director for Principles of Clinical Medicine for second-year students. Additionally, she serves as Assistant Program Director for the EM residency. Nationally, she serves as a Decision Editor for the Education section of the journal, Academic Emergency Medicine.

The ACEP award honors outstanding educators in emergency medicine and recognizes superior teaching activities including didactic lectures, clinical instruction, the development of innovative educational programs, as well as the endorsement by faculty, residents, and students.
