Chip Taylor, MD, MPH, Assistant Professor, Department of Family Medicine, has been appointed the new Medical Director of the Physician Assistant Program in the School of Medicine, effective
August 1.
Dr. Taylor succeeds Fran Biagioli, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine, who will be stepping down from the role of PA Program medical director at the end of August. At the recent graduation of the Physician Assistant Program’s fifteenth class, Ted Ruback, MS, PA, Associate Professor and Director of the OHSU PA Program, presented the program’s Director’s Award to Dr. Biagioli to acknowledge her seven years of service to the program.
Dr. Taylor is an alumnus of the Oregon Health & Science University MD program. He received his Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina in 2000. After serving the majority of his career working for the U.S. Navy, Dr. Taylor returned to OHSU in 2008 as an assistant professor in Family Medicine.
In addition to his new role as medical director of the OHSU PA Program, Dr. Taylor maintains a clinical practice at OHSU Family Medicine at Gabriel Park where he serves as a clinical educator to OHSU Family Medicine residents and OHSU medical students. He also serves as Director of Quality Assurance, OHSU Department of Family Medicine and a member of the department’s Board of Directors. Dr. Taylor’s scholarly interests lie in clinical leadership, practice transformation, quality improvement, patient safety, evidence-based healthcare, maternity care training and maternity care practice of family physicians. His current grant with the NIH is funding a project titled Behavioral & Social Sciences as Core elements of the Medical School Curriculum. Dr. Taylor also serves as medical director of the Oregon Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center where he facilitates primary care practices across Oregon in achieving meaningful use of electronic health records.
