OHSU, ODS Health partner to support Cycle Oregon 2013

Oregon Health & Science University and ODS Health are pleased to announce their support of Cycle Oregon 2013 as presenting sponsors. Cycle Oregon is an annual event dedicated to transforming individuals and communities in Oregon through bicycling.

“Cycle Oregon is an institution within our state,” said OHSU President Joe Robertson, M.D., M.B.A. “OHSU welcomes this opportunity to sponsor a series of events that help promote active, healthy lifestyles for Oregonians. A major component of maintaining overall health and disease prevention involves the dedication to an active lifestyle. Cycle Oregon’s mission aligns with OHSU’s mission of improving the health and well-being of our citizens.”

“ODS is committed to helping Oregonians get well sooner and live well longer – on and off the bike,” said ODS Vice President Jonathan Nicholas. “We’re delighted to partner with our colleagues at OHSU to help Cycle Oregon carry forward its mission.”

In addition to the weeklong ride, from Sept. 7-14, Cycle Oregon events include a weekend ride in July, the Oregon Active Transportation Summit in April and the Policy Maker’s Ride in August. Both the weeklong and weekend rides attract approximately 2,000 people with new routes each year taking riders through Oregon’s scenic countryside, small towns and cities. Proceeds from the ride go to the Cycle Oregon Fund, which helps preserve and protect Oregon’s special places and supports community development projects in the regions where the rides take place.

“Cycle Oregon is very excited to partner with OHSU and ODS Health for 2013,” said Steve Schulz, director of Cycle Oregon. “This relationship will help us expand our mission into areas that would have previously been inaccessible in our present capacity. Together, we will make a big impact throughout Oregon and particularly in the rural communities.”
