Nov. 16: Student-run health fair provides free screenings to underserved Oregonians

WHAT:

More than 50 health care students will offer uninsured and underinsured Oregonians free medical, dental, vision and hearing exams, personal hygiene items and many other services as part of the 12th annual Free Health Care Fair hosted by Oregon Health & Science University students. Last year, students provided approximately 200 screenings.

DETAILS:

Students and faculty with the OHSU schools of Medicine, Nursing and Dentistry, and the OSU/OHSU College of Pharmacy, will work with other local volunteers and organizations, including the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine and the Pacific University College of Optometry, to schedule follow-up appointments, provide resources for addiction, mental health, housing and more.

The annual event is part of the OHSU Health Care Equity Series, a year-round, student-led effort to raise awareness about disparities in the U.S. health care system.
