Oct. 24: OHSU hosts prescription drug ‘take-back’ event

OHSU will host a drug disposal event in recognition of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Community members are invited to safely and responsibly dispose of unused or expired medications free of charge. OHSU experts will be on hand to answer questions. All donations are anonymous.

In alignment with COVID-19 public health guidance, physical distancing and the use of face coverings will be required.

Because recycling services will not be available at the take-back event, event participants should consider recycling their empty medication bottles at home.

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications, has helped to discard more than 12 million pounds of medications across the U.S. since its inception in 2010.
