OHSU hosts Renée Fleming for discussion of music and neuroscience

DETAILS:

Renée Fleming, who is visiting Portland for a concert hosted by the Oregon Symphony, will present Music and the Mind on Friday evening at OHSU. The presentation explores the power of music as it relates to health, including childhood development, music therapy and discoveries that are changing our understanding of the brain. Following the presentation, she will be joined on stage for a discussion with the following OHSU neuroscientists:

  • Marc Freeman, Ph.D., director of the OHSU Vollum Institute

  • Larry Sherman, Ph.D., a musician and senior scientist at the OHSU Oregon National Primate Research Center

  • Erick Gallun, Ph.D., associate professor of otolaryngology in the OHSU School of Medicine
