Optical coherence tomography angiography

The imaging technology known as optical coherence tomography, or OCT, is commonly used to diagnose and manage eye diseases that can cause blindness. This cross-sectional image is from an OCT angiography scan of an eye with wet age-related macular degeneration, and focuses on the retina, light-sensitive tissue in the back of the eye. The yellow layer represents abnormal blood vessel growth, while normal retinal blood vessels are shown in purple and normal choroidal blood vessels are red. (OHSU/Yali Jia)
