Dr. Edelman specializes in general obstetrics and gynecology with a focus on family planning, adolescent gynecology, contraception and global women’s health care. She is actively involved in translational and clinical research focusing on the interaction of body weight and birth control, emergency and post-coital contraception, medical suppression of periods, development of novel contraceptive methods, and improving pain during office-based gynecologic procedures.

Edelman serves on the World Health Organization’s steering committee for the medical eligibility for contraceptive use, is an expert working group member forthe U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s contraceptive guidelines, and is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Committee on Gynecology Practice Bulletins. As a global reproductive health consultant, Edelman has extensive experience creating and supportingservice delivery programs in Africa, Asia, Central/South America and Europe for the improvement in maternal morbidity and mortality.
