Dr. Hinson is a neurointensivist specializing in caring for patients with life-threatening neurologic emergencies such as stroke, seizures and traumatic brain injury. Her research focuses on using plasma-based biomarkers for patient stratification after severe, acute traumatic brain injury. In addition to her clinical and research focus Hinson has taken on a leadership role in establishing an LGBTQI section within the American Academy of Neurology to improve medical care nationwide for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and gender-nonconforming people.
