OHSU statement on New Zealand shooting

OHSU is a community of healers dedicated to improving the health and well-being of others and furthering the values of equity and inclusion. Friday’s unconscionable act of violence and hate in New Zealand is an affront to everything OHSU stands for.

This senseless act compels us to unequivocally reaffirm OHSU’s commitment to an environment that is inclusive and safe for all. Religious intolerance and hatred, violence, racism, bigotry and discrimination of any kind have no place at OHSU. All are welcome here.

These words have been spoken before and will continue to be repeated until violence and hate are eradicated. We’ll continue to demonstrate integrity and compassion in all that we do and foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.

We ask others to join us in this pursuit.

Danny Jacobs, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S., OHSU President
