Jennifer Jahncke, Ph.D., a postdoctoral scholar working in the lab of Kevin Wright, Ph.D., has discovered a protein that provides insights into the neurological problems experienced by people with a rare form of muscular dystrophy known as dystroglycanopathy. This image is of a Purkinje neuron (in red) – the business end of the cerebellum. The green dots are showing inhibitory synapses on the Purkinje neuron. Those synapses are the ones that lose functionality in animal models of dystroglycanopathy. (OHSU/Christine Torres Hicks)
