Members of the Oregon Health & Science University and House Officers Union bargaining teams met in person on Thursday, Sept. 28, for the first part of their Interest Based Bargaining, or IBB, training, which is conducted by an Employee Relations Board facilitator. This was the sixth collective bargaining session for the parties.
IBB is a collaborative approach where the teams proactively identify solutions to outcomes at the bargaining table, and agreements are based on mutual interests rather than stated positions. This approach emphasizes problem-solving and aims to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. HOU has identified a number of topics on which they would like to utilize IBB.
