Portland State University, OHSU, and the Oregon Health Authority launch a new center focused on behavioral health and aging. Walt Dawson, D.Phil, co-director of the center, says, "There's a real need to better focus on behavioral health needs of older adults."

The Oregonian re-publishes a Kaiser Family Foundation story on patients who have toxic reactions to a form of chemotherapy due to a deficiency in an enzyme that metabolizes the drug. The Oregonian notes that OHSU has followed through on all the terms of the settlement agreement, including various educational efforts for employees and fellows as well as discussion of the deficiency as part of obtaining informed consent from patients.

OPB's "All Science, No Fiction" covers recent OHSU research that finds people may receive as much as a four-fold increase in immune response when they alternate from one arm to the other when receiving a multi-dose vaccine.

OHSU researchers collaborate with a team from the University of California Davis to review U.S. dementia study results from the last 10 years to gain a comprehensive picture of what health care access and quality has been like for people living with the condition. They find Black, Latino and Asian families face significantly more challenges getting either a diagnosis or targeted treatment for a loved one living with dementia than white families do.
